Thistle 02:51
Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion Blooming in the shoulder Will you still be there when I'm older Will you be on my horizon Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion Can't you see how much I'm trying But if they don't understand Well what is there to stand on Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion Please promise to keep growing While the western winds are blowing And if the sun forgets to shine Thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion

about

Thistle is inspired by the flowers whose names I learned when I was little: thistle, cuckoo flower, dandelion - and my uncertainty about the future when I had just become a mother. When my baby was a few months old, I stayed with my parents for a few days so they could help me with the baby at night. It was May or June then, as it is now, and I was admiring all the wild flowers around my parents' house. I was worried about climate change and the world that I had brought my baby into - would he know all the flowers that grew around me when I grew up? I was scared that humans were messing up so much that we couldn't fix it anymore, so I asked the flowers to keep growing despite our actions. Since then, I discovered that it makes me feel more hopeful if I come into action. I'm still afraid, but hopefully, if we all raise our voice and do all we can, together we can prevent the worst.
